HOBOKEN, NJ- The Hartwick volleyball team secured its first win in Empire 8 play with a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-22, 25-19) over Alfred on Saturday afternoon. The match was played on the home floor of Stevens Institute.
 
Hannah Strom (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) led the Hawks in kills with 12. Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Ravevn-Coeymans-Selkirk) had a game-high 19 assists. Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) contributed 11 assists. Dana Martin (Chester, NY/Burke Catholic) chipped in seven digs.
 
Earlier in the day, Hartwick fell to Elmira 3-0 (10-25, 15-25, 20-25). Martin led in kills with six. Lintner had 13 assists. Brianna Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) contributed 11 digs.
 
The Hawks return home to host the Hartwick/Holiday Inn Invitational next weekend. Hartwick will face SUNY Cobleskill at 6:30 p.m. followed by SUNY Plattsburgh at 8:30 p.m.
