– Visiting Ithaca College scored 11 of the first 12 goals in the second half to pull away for a 23-7 victory over Hartwick's women's lacrosse team on Saturday at Wright Stadium. The Hawks fall to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8 with the loss. The Bombers, who are just out of the IWLCA national top-20 in the “receiving votes” category, improve to 7-3 overall and stay atop the conference standings at 4-0.
           
Hartwick was led by senior Brittany LaVaute (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles HS) and freshman Jackie Moynihan (West Islip, NY/West Islip HS) who each scored two goals. Erica Scicchitano (Centerport, NY/Harborfields HS), Ali Sisco (Kendall Park, NJ/), and Lisa Littleton (Yorktown, NY/Yorktown HS) each had one goal for the Hawks.
           
Ithaca started the game with five straight goals with roughly 10 minutes elapsed before the Hawks scored three of the next four to pull to within three, 6-3. Sisco got Hartwick on the scoreboard at 20:07 and LaVaute scored on a free-position shot 34 seconds later.
           
After the Bombers extended their lead to four with a goal at 15:34, Scicchitano grabbed one of her game-high seven draws and raced to goal beating IC keeper Jess Worthman for the Hawks' 3rd tally.
           
IC stretched their advantage with three goals with under 11 and a half minutes left in the half. LaVaute scored her second of the half with 4:01 to play before the Bombers netted their 10th with 1:46 remaining for a 10-4 edge at the break.
           
The Bombers scored five times in the first eight minutes of the second half. Moynihan scored on a free-position shot with 19:46 left to play, but Ithaca would tack on five more scores in a 6:24 span. Moynihan scored her second of the day with 4:28 left and Meg Luce (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs HS) set up Littleton for the Hawks' final goal 1:40 later.
              
Scicchitano's seven draws equaled her career-high which she set against Alfred during her freshman season. She added two ground balls. LaVaute, Littleton, Morgan Hall (Sloatsburg, NY/Suffern HS), and goalkeeper Steph Luce (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs HS) each contributed two ground balls. Luce also made 10 saves.
           
Tracy Rivas scored five goals to pace Ithaca. Michelle Avery added four.
           
Hartwick returns to action next weekend with an Empire 8 Conference road trip. The Hawks play at Nazareth on April 21 and St. John Fisher on April 22.
