Box Score 2 ONEONTA, NY- The women's volleyball team notched its first victory of the season as they defeated SUNYIT 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-16, 25-14) on the second day of competition at the Oneonta State Invitational. The win also marked the first for new head coach Jim Clar.
Hannah Strom (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) had a big game for the Hawks as she had a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs.
Dana Martin (Chester, NY/Burke Catholic) contributed 10 kills.
Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) tallied 18 assists while
Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Raven-Coeymans-Selkirk) chipped in 15 assists.
Brianna Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) led the team in digs with nine.
In the Hawks' first match of the day, Hartwick fell to Hunter College 3-0 (19-25, 23-25, 18-25). Martin and Strom both had nine kills while
Christine Confer (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) had eight kills. Martin had 11 digs while Eckert was just behind her with 10 digs. Linter tallied 13 assists with McGee picking up eight assists.
Hartwick (1-3) will travel to Elmira to compete in the Elmira Tournament next weekend. The team will face Houghton at 4 p.m. followed by SUNY Brockport at 8 p.m. on Friday.
