’Wick Swimming and Diving Teams Defeat St. Lawrence

Kenny Kleso won the 100 free in a time of 50.16.
CANTON, NY- The Hartwick men's and women's swimming teams continued their winning ways with both picking up victories over St. Lawrence on Saturday afternoon. The men won by the score of 159-60 and the women won 138-99. The men remain undefeated at 14-0 while the women improve to 12-2.

For the men, nine different swimmers won to contribute to the team victory. Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA) won the 200 free (1:51.19), Miles Blaney (New York City, NY) took first place in the 400 IM (4:25.49), and Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ) was victorious in the 100 fly (55.02). Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA) was the winner of the 100 free (50.16) and Joshua McNorton (Sanford, NC) picked up his second win of the year with a victory in the 500 free (5:01.45).

Four Hawks picked up their first wins of the season. Evan DeGidio (Jacksonville, FL) was first in the 50 free (22.76) and Daniel MacElveen (Poughkeepsie, NY) won the 500 free (57.84). Ryan Cichielo (Cape Coral, FL) claimed victory in the 100 breast (1:04.86) and Kris Sanders (Tillsonburg, ON)  touched the wall first in the 1000 free (10:28.58).

The Hawks also took both relay events. The team of Eric Moore (Dallas, PA), Cichelo, Blaney, and Ranson won the 200 medley relay in 1:42.93. In the 200 free relay, the squad of Ranson, Brendan Day (Westfield, MA), Jefferson Monastoque (Heredia, Costa Rica), and Moore won in 1:31.34.

Andrew Beckham (Gloversville, NY) won both of his diving events. He posted a score of 220.95 in the one-meter diving competition and a score of 269 in three-meter diving.

On the women's side, Jade Woodend (Visalia, CA) won two events on the afternoon to lead Hartwick to victory. Woodend was first in the 50 free (24.43) and the 100 free (53.71). Both of her times set new pool records.

Other winners on the day included Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA) in the 200 free (2:06.36), Erin Holladay (Everett, WA) in the 500 free (5:32.82), Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL) in the 1000 free (11:07.72), and Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA) in the 100 breast (1:11.43).

Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA) won both the one and three-meter diving events. She had a winning score of 214.15 in the one-meter and a score of 249.65 in the three-meter. Her three-meter diving score also set a new pool record.

Both teams will conclude the regular season next weekend against Stevens at Moyer Pool for their Senior Recognition/Parent Appreciation Day. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
