A Hirt jumper and then two free throws on the Hawks' next possession opened up their biggest lead of the half, 28-9, with 3:22 left on the clock. Hartwick led 32-15 at the break.

'Wick made 59% in the first half on 13-of-22 shooting. AU converted only five field goals (5-for-20) over the opening 20 minutes.

In the second half, the Saxons scored eight points in the first 3:41 to pull to within 11 points. Cate Mensler and Harley Cleary knocked down consecutive three-pointers to make the score 36-25.

It would be downhill offensively for the Saxons from that point on as the Hawks held them to three points and no field goals over the next 15 minutes of action. They would go 0-for-12 in the span with nine turnovers.
