Women’s Soccer Cruises Past Fighting Tigers, 9-0

ONEONTA, NY- Six different players scored for Hartwick as the women's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season with a 9-0 triumph over visiting SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday night at Elmore Field. Hartwick improves to 1-1-2 on the year while the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-4.

The nine goals scored by the Hawks are the most since 2006 when 'Wick had 10 scores against Randolph College. Allyson Daniels (Pembroke, NH/Pembroke Academy) had a hat trick to lead Hartwick. Cami Cleaveland (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) added a pair of scores. Angela Luizzi (Albany, NY/Guilderland), Megan McGillycuddy (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville), Jayme Bentley (Worcester, NY/Schenevus Central), and Kylie Thayer (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) all scored once. Luizzi also had two assists.

The Hawks totaled 28 shots in the game with 15 of those on goal. Hartwick also had six corner kicks.

'Wick was up 7-0 in the first half. Cleaveland got the scoring started just over six minutes into the contest and added her second of the night three minutes later. Beginning in the 19th minute, the Hawks went on a scoring spree with five scores in a 20 minute span.

Hope Brown (Sherburne, NY/Sherburne-Earlville) got the start in goal and logged 33:24 of game time. She was relieved by Annie Millar (Illion, NY/Illion) who played the final 56:36. Neither player faced a shot.

Amanda Wallace stopped five shots for the Fighting Tigers in goal. She was replaced by Hayley MacLean in the second half and she had one save.

Hartwick returns to Elmore Field this Sunday to face Wells in a non-conference match. Game time will be at 1 p.m.
