Hawks Roll Past Cazenovia For Second Straight Win

Christine Confer had nine kills in 13 attacks with zero errors on Tuesday against Cazenovia.

ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick volleyball hit .500 as a team and only allowed visiting Cazenovia 33 points in the match in a 3-0 (25, 10, 25-7, 25-16) victory Tuesday night at Lambros Arena. The Hawks improve to 2-7 on the year and are winners of two consecutive matches. The Wildcats slip to 2-8 overall with the loss.

Hartwick's top three point producers on the day, Ashlynn Mohan (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill), Christine Confer (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Mary Beth DeCuyke (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown), combined for 27 of the Hawks' 36 kills on the night. The trio also hit a combined .558 in the contest.

Mohan had the match-high in kills with 10. She also registered the match-highs in digs (4) and blocks (3). Confer contributed nine kills and hit .692 without committing an error. DeCuyke added eight kills and hit .538.

Quincy Kinzel (Scotia, NY/Guilderland) delivered 27 assists for Hartwick tonight. Eight different Hawks registered a total of 10 aces. Kinzel and Dana Martin (Chester, NY/Burke Catholic) each had two and Meg Luce (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) registered the first ace of her career.

Shaylia Thomas accumulated six kills to pace the Wildcats. Samantha McCarthy had 10 assists.

Hartwick next plays this weekend at the Union Invitational in Schenectady. The Hawks play Cortland and the host Dutchwomen on Friday and Oneonta State and Williams on Saturday.
