SCHENECTADY, NY – Oneonta State and Williams were too much for the Hartwick volleyball team on Saturday as the Hawks wrapped up play at the Union College Invitational in Schenectady. 'Wick falls to 2-11 on the season.

The Hawks kept the score close against the Red Dragons in their first match of the day. Oneonta would take the first game, 25-16. The Blue and White closed the gap to 25-21 in the second game and the Dragons bested them by six points in the third to seal the victory.

Hannah Strom (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) had the team-high in kills with 10. Ashlynn Mohan (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) notched eight. Quincy Kinzel (Scotia, NY/Guilderland) dished out 23 assists in the match and Christina Vitale (Port Jefferson Station, NY/St. John the Baptist) registered a team-best 17 digs.

Erica Darpino achieved 12 kills for Oneonta State (6-5) and Kristina Pelaccio contributed 18 digs.

The Hawks had a tough match against Williams (8-1) in the second match. The Ephs allowed 'Wick just 28 points in three games in a 25-10, 25-8, 25-10 setback.

Strom led the team with six kills and Kinzel added 12 assists. Mohan had the team-high in digs with five.

Tori Jasuta (11) and Raea Rasmussen (10) paced the Williams offense with a combined 21 kills. Ryan Farley recorded 35 assists.

Hartwick hosts an Empire 8 Crossover next weekend with Houghton, Ithaca, Nazareth, Stevens, and Utica all traveling to Lambros Arena. The Hawks will kick off the weekend against Utica on Friday at 4 p.m. They play Nazareth on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Ithaca at 3 p.m.
