ONEONTA, NY- Angela Luizzi (Albany, NY/Guilderland) scored four goals to lead the women's soccer team as the Hawks defeated visiting Wells 7-0 in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon at Elmore Field. The Hawks improve their record to 2-1-2 while the Express fall to 1-5.

Also scoring for 'Wick on the afternoon were Cami Cleaveland (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Jayme Bentley (Worcester, NY/Schenevus), and Taylor Pechtel (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls). Bentley added one assist while Cristina Sicari (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) assisted on two scores.

The Hawks controlled the game from the onset as they pounded shot after shot at Express goaltender Kylie Nishioka. Bentley broke through for the Hawks in the 10th minute when she hit a long hanging shot from the left side of the box that dropped into the goal to put 'Wick ahead 1-0. Cleaveland scored her fourth goal of the season in the 15th minute to give Hartwick a 2-0 advantage going into halftime.

In the second half, Luizzi put on a scoring clinic with two goals within a two and a half minute span between the 48th and 50th minutes. Luizzi added scores in the 83rd minute and with eight seconds remaining in the game sandwiched by Pechtel's first career goal in the 89th minute.

Hartwick dominated in shots, 40-1, and in corner kicks, 8-1. Luizzi had a whopping 14 shots in the contest with nine of those coming on goal.

Hope Brown (Sherburne, NY/Sherburne-Earlville) had a quiet day in net with just one save. Nishioka had a career-high 17 saves for the Express.

The Hawks return to Elmore Field when they welcome Bard on Wednesday night. Game time will be at 7 p.m.
