Dana Martin registered 13 kills and 10 digs on Friday in two matches for the Hawks.

ROCHESTER, NY – Hartwick women's volleyball lost in a pair of matches to Mount Union and Scranton on Friday in Rochester at the Nazareth College Golden Flyer Invitational. The Purple Raiders and the Royals each knocked off the Hawks in three games.

The Hawks had a tough time against nationally 11th ranked Mount Union, which was an NCAA Tournament participant in 2012 and entered the match unbeaten. The Hawks lost 25-12, 25-11, and 25-13.

Dana Martin (Chester, NY/Burke Catholic) registered the team-high in kills with six. Christina Vitale (Port Jefferson Station, NY/St. John the Baptist) and Alyssa Zeitler (Chardon, OH/Berkshire) each notched six digs.

The Raiders hit .324 for the match as a team with 35 kills and 11 errors in 74 attacks. Kara Berger led a balance offense with eight kills.

In the Hawks' nightcap against Scranton, Martin had seven kills, Hannah Strom (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) recorded five, and Ashlynn Mohan (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) added four, but it wasn't enough as the Royals registered the win, 25-23, 25-18, 25-16.

Hannah Armstrong (Lansing, NY/Lansing) dished out 12 assists for the Hawks. Martin (7) and Zeitler (6) combined for 13 digs.

Julia Crilly picked up 11 kills and 11 digs for Scranton. Brittany Cafiero contributed 18 assists.

Hartwick (0-6) returns to action tomorrow at the Golden Flyer Invitational. The Hawks play Fredonia at 10 a.m. and take on either the host Flyers, RIT, Geneseo, or Hilbert in their finale.
