ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick won in three straight sets, 25-20, 25-18, 25-22, over Morrisville State on Tuesday night at Lambros Arena. It served as Hartwick Senior Night, with the two 'Wick seniors,
Dana Martin (Chester, NY/Burke Catholic) and
Christine Confer (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) being recognized.
The Hawks had a balanced attack for the match with four different players recording seven or more kills. The senior pair of Confer and Martin combined for 16 kills and each hit over .300 for the match. Confer registered eight and hit .500 with just one error on 14 attacks. Martin also had six kills and hit .300. She would also contribute 16 digs in the match.
Mary Beth DeCuyke (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) notched a match-high nine kills for Hartwick. Freshman
Kayla Baril (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk) added seven. Baril also had 10 digs.
Alyssa Zeitler (Chardon, OH/Berkshire) led Hartwick in digs with 17.
Quincy Kinzel (Scotia, NY/Guilderland) accumulated 30 assists and also chipped in defensively with seven digs.
Alison Brockway paced Morrisville State with six kills. Kylie Murphy recorded 11 digs and Erika Bailey had 14 assists.
The win for the Hawks is their fifth straight over the Mustangs. They improve to 5-1 in six all-time meetings.
Hartwick is off for the next ten days until the Hartwick/Holiday Inn Tournament which begins on Friday, October 17. The Hawks entertain Ithaca, Brockport, and Oswego at the tourney.
