ONEONTA, NY – 'Wick volleyball won both of its matches on Saturday to finish 2-2 at the SUNY Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational. The Hawks defeated Bard College (25-21, 25-18, 25-17) and Plattsburgh State (26-24, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17) to get to the 10-win mark for the season.
Hartwick won in straight sets against the Raptors in its opening match.
Freshman
Kayla Baril (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk) earned a double-double with match-highs of 12 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore
Quincy Kinzel (Scotia, NY/Guilderland) dished out 30 assists and added seven digs and four aces for 'Wick. Sophomore
Alyssa Zeitler (Chardon, OH/Berkshire) contributed 11 digs.
Sophomore
Hannah Armstrong (Lansing, NY/Lansing) registered nine kills and eight digs and freshman
Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) secured six digs and a match-high five aces.
Baril recorded another double-double against the Cardinals in the Hawks' second match. She had 10 kills and 10 digs.
Hartwick would edge Plattsburgh in the first set by two points. The Hawks took a 2-0 advantage but the Cardinals responded in the third set to trim the margin to 2-1. But 'Wick pulled away in the fourth to earn the victory in the team's season finale.
Junior
Mary Beth DeCuyke (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) was in double figures in kills with 12. Kinzel also had a double-double for 'Wick with 37 assists and she tied for a team-best with 15 digs.
Armstrong would notch 15 digs, nine kills, and four aces. Werner and Zeitler added 13 and 10 digs, respectively. Freshman
Rosa Maun (Redstone, CO/Roaring Fork) contributed seven kills.
The Hawks close out the 2014 season with an overall mark of 10-21.
