SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Hartwick opened its final day of competition on Saturday with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-23) win over Potsdam at the Skidmore Invitational before falling in its season finale to Geneseo in three sets, 23-25, 14-25, 16-25.
Against the Bears,
Kayla Baril (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk) and
Taylor Vonasek (Willington, CT/EO Smith) combined for 25 kills for the Hawks. Vonasek notched her 10 kills in 18 attacks with no errors for a hitting percentage of .556.
Quincy Kinzel (Scotia, NY/Guilderland) and
Jamie Reidy (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) combined for 33 assists in the match. Kinzel had 20 with Reidy adding 13. Reidy would also contributed eight digs.
Hannah Armstrong (Lansing, NY/Lansing) led Hartwick in digs with 12.
Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) added 11.
In their second match against the Knights,
Rachel Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) led a balanced attack with eight kills. Baril added six and Vonasek and Armstrong chipped in with five apiece.
Armstrong and Werner each registered 10 digs with
Alyssa Zeitler (Chardon, OH/Chardon) contributing nine. Kinzel had 12 assists and seven digs. Baril added six digs.
The Hawks close out their 2015 campaign with a record of 10-21.
