ITHACA, NY – A pair of Ithaca goals in each half gave the host Bombers a win over Hartwick's field hockey team by a final score of 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Ithaca, NY.
Tallies from Michaela Donohue and Viktoria Schultz less than eight minutes apart in the opening half put the Bombers in front by 2-0 count. Donahue scored from Schultz at the 14:51 mark. At 26:03, Donahue returned the favor, setting up Schultz for goal number two.
Nine minutes, 16 seconds into the second half, the Bombers increased their lead with a goal from Cassie Schuttrumpf on a backhand. Forty-three seconds later, Ithaca pushed across its fourth as Lauren Delia scored from a feed from Donahue.
Sophomores
Claudia Stone (Akron, NY/Akron) and
Lex Richards (Northport, NY/Northport) each registered shots on goal for the Hawks. Both were turned away by Ithaca goalie Katie Lass.
Shannon Carter (Falls Church, VA/J.E.B. Stuart),
Jilian Sabatino (Boonton, NJ/Boonton), and
Laura Downey (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) played in goal for the Hawks. Carter played the first 50 minutes making nine stops. Sabatino played the next 16 minutes and contributed two saves. Downey played the final four minutes for the Hawks.
Hartwick (2-4, 0-2 E8) is back at Wright Stadium on Saturday as it looks for its first Empire 8 Conference win of the season. The Hawks host Elmira College beginning at 1 p.m.
