ONEONTA, NY – On Wednesday evening at Lambros Arena, the visiting Morrisville Mustangs forced the Hartwick volleyball team into a deciding set. In the fifth set, the Hawks prevailed 15-11 to take the match 3-2. Hartwick moves its season to 7-17 while Morrisville falls to 20-9.
The Hawks grabbed the first two sets by the respective scores of 25-15 and 25-17. Morrisville clawed back in taking the third set, 25-10 and fourth, 29-27.
In their final home match of the season, the Hawks honored two seniors, both of which led for the night.
Outside hitter
Hannah Armstrong (Lansing, NY/Lansing) notched her eighth double-double of the season landing a match-high 18 kills and 17 digs. Classmate libero,
Alyssa Zeitler (Chardon, OH/Berkshire), notched 22 digs to lead her team.
Jamie Reidy (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) accounted for a match-high 42 assists while
Ashley Smatko (Fort Edward, NY/South Glens Falls) connected on 12 kills.
Hartwick rounds out its season participating in city-rival Oneonta's Dig Pink Invitational. In the two-day event beginning this Friday, the Hawks will face three opponents. Hartwick gets a chance at Delhi first at 4 p.m. and then sees Baruch and Plattsburgh State on Saturday.
