Men’s Lax Falls at Farmingdale 9-6

FARMINGDALE, NY – Hartwick held a 5-4 lead at the half but a four-goal run from host Farmingdale proved to be too much to overcome for the Hawks on Saturday.
           
'Wick drops to 1-2 on the season while the Rams improve to 3-1.
           
Jake Sachse (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin School of MD) and Sam Ferguson (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) led the Hawks with two goals apiece. Chris Vaden (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) and Matt McCallan (Bay Shore, NY/West Islip) also tallied.
           
Farmingdale jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals in the first 2:42 of action. The Hawks answered with a Vaden tally from Ferguson before the Rams scored to take a 3-1 lead. Sachse and Ferguson then tallied in the final 2:33 for a 3-3 tie after one quarter.
           
The Hawks went ahead at 12:14 of the second period on a Ferguson goal with Vaden assisting. The Rams tied the score at 4-all at 3:24 but Sachse countered less than a minute later to put Hartwick up 5-4 at the break.
           
The Rams netted goals in the first 4:32 of the third quarter to grab the lead. They tacked on two more scores in the third for an 8-5 advantage. Hartwick would inch closer on McCallan's tally at 2:58 but it would be the final goal of the day for the Hawks. Farmingdale finished off the scoring with 2:53 left in the contest

David Bianculli (Charlton, MA/Shepard Hill Regional) registered a game-high nine ground balls in the game. He also had a pair of caused turnovers. Kevin Rourke (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) had three ground balls.
           
Mike Rourke (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) made 15 saves in the game. He also had two ground balls.
           
Hartwick next plays on Wednesday, March 16 at Oswego beginning at 4 p.m.
