OSWEGO, NY – Hartwick men's lacrosse rallied from a three-goal deficit to tie the game at 3-3 in the fourth quarter thanks to a trio of Hawk goals in an 8:29 span. The host Lakers, however, would score the next four goals to pull away for a 7-4 win.
The game was originally scheduled for a 4 p.m. start but thunderstorms during warmups forced a sizeable delay. The two teams finally got things started at roughly 5:10 p.m.
It took over 12 minutes to get the game's first goal with Oswego's James Lennon finally getting a shot past 'Wick goalie

The Hawks kept the Lakers out for the first eight and a half minutes of the second quarter until Jalen Ryan made it a 2-0 advantage for the hosts. Ryan extended the lead late in the period with his second goal for a 3-0 edge at 41 seconds.
Hartwick broke through with 5:45 left in the third quarter as
Chris Vaden (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) scored on the man-up to pull 'Wick within two. Vaden trimmed the gap to one 1:43 later as he finished off a pass from
Matt McCallan (Bay Shore, NY/West Islip) and the period would end with the Lakers clinging to a 3-2 lead.
McCallan would set up the tying goal as he fed
Cody Petillo (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) with 2:44 gone in the final quarter and the Hawks drew even with the Lakers at 3-3.
Oswego won the ensuing face-off and following a few shots that flew wide of the target, Andrew Burlew put the Lakers in front to stay at 10:47. Less than a minute later, Burlew added his second to give Oswego a two-goal cushion.
In a little under eight minutes of time, the Hawks fired three shots at the Laker cage but they couldn't find the net to get within one. Instead, Oswego scored twice in 11 seconds to make it a 7-3 game.
McCallan finished off the scoring with his seventh tally of the season with 1:07 showing on the clock.
The hosts out-shot the Hawks in the game, 41-28. They also had 38 ground balls to the Hawks' 27 and won nine of 15 face-offs.
Mike Rourke finished the game with 16 saves in goal for 'Wick. He also tied for a team-best with four ground balls.
Garrison Wojtas (Hauppage, NY/Hauppage) also grabbed four and contributed two caused turnovers.
David Bianculli (Charlton, MA/Shepard Hill Regional) and
Cordell Armstrong (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) each had three ground balls.
Kevin Rourke (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) and
Derek Chandler (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) caused a pair of Laker turnovers apiece.
Hartwick hosts the UMass-Boston Beacons on Saturday at Wright Stadium beginning at 1 p.m.
