ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick and St. Joseph's Long Island were deadlocked at 7-7 at halftime but the visiting Golden Eagles scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to help secure a 15-10 win over the Hawks Saturday at Wright Stadium.
Lauren Rosenberg (Smithtown, NY/Commack) was a force for the Hawks as she had a hand in eight of the team's 10 goals. She registered seven goals, including six in the first half, and one assist in the contest.
Courtney Coons (Wilton, NY/South Glens Falls),
Megan Young (Gansevoort, NY/Schuylerville), and
Jessie Matt (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) each chipped in a goal and an assist.
The first half was back and forth with neither team leading by more than a goal. The score was tied seven times with the leading changing hands on five occasions.
Rosenberg would score 'Wick's first four goals to help the Hawks to a 4-3 advantage with 15:22 left in the half. The Golden Eagles answered with a pair of tallies to gain the upper hand, but Young and Rosenberg netted goals to retake a 6-5 edge.
Rosenberg's sixth goal of the half at 5:29 gave the hosts their final lead of the day. St. Joe's evened the score 2:28 before halftime.
The visitors broke the tie with two goals inside the first two minutes of the second half. Matt would score for 'Wick at 24:02, but the Golden Eagles would net the next four goals over a 10-minute span to gain a 13-8 advantage with 8:36 left in the contest.
A Coons' goal at 8:12 inched the Hawks closer, 13-9, but two markers in 16 seconds for St. Joe's with under six minutes remaining would put the game away.
The Golden Eagles out-shot the Hawks 35-22 in the game. They also held slim margins in both ground balls (25-22) and draw controls (15-12).

Carleigh Tarala (Tully, NY/Tully) had a strong showing in the first half with 11 saves. She would finish with a College-high 14 stops in the contest.
Rosenberg would have the team-high in ground balls with five. She added four draws.
Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) had a team-high six draws and four ground balls. Young also would contribute four ground balls for 'Wick.
Abby Letourneau (South Portland, ME/South Portland) and
Hazel Flores (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) each caused two turnovers.
Heather Ferchland and Meaghan Haber each scored four goals to lead St. Joe's.
Hartwick is at home on Wednesday, March 23 against Keuka College beginning at 6 p.m.
