ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick trailed 5-4 midway through the first half against visiting Ithaca, but the Bombers would score 10 of the next 11 goals in the last 13:15 of the first half to build an insurmountable lead in a 21-7 setback for the Hawks.
With the result, 'Wick slips to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8. The Bombers, who are receiving votes in the latest IWLCA national poll, improve to 9-3 and 5-0 in league play.
Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) led Hartwick with four goals and an assist on the day.
Lauren Rosenberg (Smithtown, NY/Commack) added a pair of tallies and she dished out one assist.
Ithaca took a 2-0 lead with goals 21 seconds apart early in the first half. The two teams then traded goals over a five-minute span with Werner getting both of the Hawks' markers.
The Bombers opened up a 5-2 lead at 19:34, but Werner and Rosenberg goals at 18:25 and 15:29, respectively, made it a one-goal game.
Ithaca rallied for seven consecutive goals in less than a seven-minute span to gain a 12-4 edge. Rosenberg scored off a Werner feed at 4:27, but the Bombers added three more tallies for a 15-5 lead at halftime.
Ithaca would out-score the Hawks 6-2 in the second half. Werner scored her fourth of the game with Rosenberg assisting 5:24 into the second half.
Megan Young (Gansevoort, NY/Schuylerville) recorded the final Hartwick goal with 11:03 left in the contest.
Courtney Coons (Wilton, NY/South Glens Falls) earned the assist.
The Bombers held a 41-12 edge in shots and secured 21 of the game's 31 ground balls. They also won 20 of 30 draw controls.
Carleigh Tarala (Tully, NY/Tully) recorded 13 saves in the Hartwick cage. She also had a team-high three ground balls.
Abby Letourneau (South Portland, ME/South Portland) tied for a game-high with five draw controls for the Hawks.
Ithaca was led by Riley Marion, who scored six goals. Allison Panara recorded three goals and three assists and Morgan Cadwell also chipped in three scores.
