POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - On Wednesday evening, the host Vassar College field hockey team used a 32-3 advantage in shots and a 15-1 margin in penalty corners to push past Hartwick, 2-0, at Weinberg Field. Vassar's Emma Bracken secured a goal in the 42
nd minute while her teammate, Hayley Beach notched one in the 62
nd. The Brewers improve to 9-1 while the Hawks fall to just 6-3 overall.
Goalkeeper
Shannon Carter (Falls Church, VA/J.E.B. Stuart) led the Empire 8 in save percentage last week with a .896 clip. Today, the senior rejected 14 balls defensively.
Jillian Sabatino (Boonton, NJ/Boonton) also saw time in goal.
Midfielders
Maggie Stauble (Longmeadow, MA/Kingston) and
Maria Stalder (New Woodstock, NY/Cazenovia) each tallied a shot attempt for the Hawks. The Brewers' midfielders Cristina Lopez and Alyssa More let off six shots each. Forwards Megan Caveny (4), Beach (3), Haley Cubell and midfielder Mikayla Young also added to Vassar's offense.
Hartwick will resume conference action on the road against Houghton College this Saturday, October 1
st. The contest will begin at 1 p.m.
