ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick used a goal 13 and a half minutes into the game in a 1-0 shutout win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday at Wright Stadium. The Hawks get their 10
th win on the season with the result. They also improve to 4-2 in Empire 8 play, which puts them third in the standings with one game left next play next weekend.
Allyson Quirk (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) scored the lone goal for the Hawks. She beat Ducks' keeper Nicole Mottole for her fifth tally of the season.
Maria Stalder (New Woodstock, NY/Cazenovia) picked up the assist on the play.
With the one-goal lead, the Hawks continued to pressure the visitors. In the second half alone, Hartwick out-shot Stevens 11-4 and earned 11 corners to the Ducks' five. Both defenses held up, however, and the Hawks secured the conference victory.
Brooke Singer (Johnson City/Maine Endwell), Stone, and Quirk combined for 13 of the Hawks' 18 shots. Singer registered five with Stone and Quirk adding four apiece
Allyson Osborne (Nottingham, PA/Solanco) made a pair of saves to earn the shutout in goal for Hartwick. Mottole finished the day with seven stops for the Ducks.

Lex Richards (Northport, NY/Northport) were recognized in a ceremony prior to the game for their contributions to the Hartwick field hockey program.
Hartwick travels to Wells College on Wednesday, October 25 for its final non-conference game of the season. The opening whistle is scheduled for 4 p.m.
