Women’s Soccer Falls in Final Seconds to Hamilton, 1-0

ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick's women's soccer team conceded a goal with just 6.9 seconds remaining in the match in a 1-0 loss to Hamilton Tuesday night on Elmore Field. The Hawks had a free kick seconds earlier with Kiley Richardson (Flanders, NJ/Roxbury) putting her shot on goal but into the arms of Hamilton keeper Emily Dumont. The ball made its way to Kayleigh Harris who raced up the sideline, won a tackle, and served a pass across the goal mouth where Katie Kreider knocked it into an open goal for the winner.

The loss for Hartwick drops its overall record to 7-4. The Continentals improve to 5-3-1.

In the first half, the visitors held a 9-3 edge in shots. Three of the Continentals' nine shots in the half would catch the crossbar and another two would be cleared off the line.

Maddy Paul (Seattle, WA/Nathan Hale) had two shots for Hartwick in the half. Sierra Bentley (Worcester, NY/Schenevus) had the other. Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) would make five stops in the Hawks' goal in the opening 45 minutes.

Hamilton out-shot 'Wick 10-1 in the second half. Despite the shot differential, the Hawks kept the Continentals out and looked destined to reach overtime until Kreider's winner.

Hamilton finished the night with 19 shots to the Hawks' four. Robataille made seven saves for Hartwick. Dumont stopped a pair of shots in the Continental net.

The result drops the Hawks' all-time record against the Continentals to 9-11-4 in 24 meetings.

Hartwick is on the road for consecutive conference games against Houghton on Saturday and Alfred on Sunday.
