Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Stevens Too Much for Hartwick, 18-3

ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's lacrosse team fell to Stevens, 18-3, Saturday afternoon at Wright Stadium. The loss, the Hawks' second straight since their four-game win streak, puts them at 8-5 on the year and 3-4 in the Empire 8. The Ducks remain undefeated in league play at 7-0, and are 12-3 on the season.

After the Hawks went up on the first scoring play of the game, Stevens added a 4-0 run only to be stopped by Jennifer Darasz's (Gorham, ME/Gorham) tally in the 18th minute. The visitors went on to outscore 'Wick 6-1 behind the break for a 10-3 clip at the half.

Stevens continued to control the game on both ends of the field for the length of the second half. While disallowing any 'Wick offense, Stevens pinned eight more points to its column ultimately running away with the 18-3 tilt.

Megan Young (Gansevoort, NY/Schuylerville), Hailey Pooler (Adams Center, NY/South Jefferson), and Darasz each notched a goal for HC with help from Abby Letourneau (South Portland, ME/South Portland) and Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties).

Kyra Bednarski led the Stevens' surge pacing the Ducks with six points. Bednarski tied Kathleen Kalbian with four tallies leading a class of eight Ducks' scorers. Mariel Haubrich, Kalbian and Bednarski totaled eight assists amongst them.

Ashley Jablonowski (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) and Carleigh Tarala (Tully, NY/Tully) shared time in goal saving four and three Ducks' attempts, respectively. Jablonowski was credited for the loss. On the other end, Stephanie Schnelzer stopped four in the win for the Ducks.

Of the three matches left to be played this season, 'Wick competes in two more non-conference contests. Next Wednesday, April 26, Hartwick travels to Morrisville for a 4 p.m. draw.
