BROCKPORT, NY – Hartwick field hockey's offensive prowess was on full display Saturday afternoon, at Bob Boozer Field. Against host Brockport, the Hawks owned a 36-3 shot advantage and a 17-3 margin in penalty corners, evidently walking away with the 3-1 victory. The win propels the Hawks to a 4-2 season clip while the Golden Eagles, unable to snap their five game skid, are 1-5 on the year.
Brooke Singer (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell Sr) registered her first collegiate goal, one of her eight looks, on a feed from
Claudia Stone (Akron, NY/Akron) to commence scoring on the afternoon in the 12
th minute.
Brockport's Abby Meagher provided the only tally for her a squad. From Margo Tremaine, Meagher too clinched her first goal all year tying things up at one apiece with just under six minutes to go until the intermission.
Bella Wheeler (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) casted the go-ahead goal connecting with
Allyson Quirk (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) for the 2-1 lead at 43:34.
In the 55
th minute,
Marissa Downes (Boiceville, NY/Onteora) rounded out scoring, 3-1, when she completed a play on a pass from
Kelsey Chubb.
In cage,
Laura Downey (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) got a touch on two Golden Eagles' attempts as the only Hawks' keeper. Sarah Beam stopped 22 for the opposition.
The Hawks see a four-game home stand on the season's horizon. Beginning Tuesday, September 19
