ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick women's soccer out-shot visiting Elmira College 25-2, including a 20-1 margin in the second half, in a 4-0 victory on Elmore Field on Wednesday night. The victory ups the Hawks' season mark to 6-3 and they even their Empire 8 record at 1-1. EC slips to 1-6-1, and 0-1-1.
Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford) and
Casey Boucher (Northbridge, MA/Northbridge) led the Hawks with a goal and an assist apiece.
Rachel Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) and
Ashley Connolly (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) also found the net for 'Wick.
Pine got the Hawks on the scoreboard in the 25
th minute with Weir assisting. Boucher got an insurance goal in the 43
rd minute on a header from a pass from
Maggie Rogers (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills) and the Hawks went into halftime up 2-0.
Despite the large disparity in possession, the Hawks couldn't push across their third goal for the opening 28 minutes of the second half. Finally, Boucher set up Connolly for her second tally of the season at the 73:22 mark for a 3-0 advantage.
Weir would close out the scoring at 81:54 off a feed from
Tanner Reed (Unadilla, NY/Unatego Central).
Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) had a quiet night in the Hawks' goal. She needed to make only one save to earn the clean sheet. Rachel Grampp stopped nine shots for the Soaring Eagles.
