Eight Hawks Figure in the Scoring in 6-0 Defeat of Wells

ONEONTA, NY – Five different Hawks scored goals and eight different players registered at least a point on Wednesday night in a 6-0 rout of Wells College under the lights of Elmore. Sierra Bentley (Worcester, NY/Schenevus) led the way with a goal and two assists while Casey Boucher (Northbridge, MA/Northbridge) contributed two tallies.

With the win, Hartwick improves to 3-0 on the season. The Express drops to 1-2.

Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford) got things started for the Hawks as she scored off an assist from Madison Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) 5:07 into the contest.

The Express kept the Hawks out for nearly the next 35 minutes of action until Bentley fed an unmarked Boucher in the box, and she finished low to the far post to extend the Hartwick advantage. The Hawks got a third 2:04 before halftime as newcomer Maggie Rogers (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills) netted her first collegiate goal off a pass from Katie Weaver (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and they entered halftime with a 3-0 edge.

'Wick opened the second half with two quick goals to break the game open. Boucher made a run in the box, beat two Wells defenders, and then keeper Quinn Doubet for her second of the day. Shortly after, Bentley squeezed her shot past Doubet to make it a 5-0 game.

Hayley Marte (Sloatsburg, NY/Suffern) finished off the night's scoring in the 73rd minute on a breakaway for her first goal in a Hartwick jersey. Alexa DuBois (Hobart, NY/South Kortright) earned the assist.

The Hawks ended the match with a 27-3 advantage in shots. They also earned all nine corners on the night. Celeste Trevellini (Bayside, NY/World Journalism Prep School) and Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) combined for the shutout in goal. They were called upon to make only one save in the contest.

Hartwick returns to action on Saturday with the start of the Mayor's Cup. The Hawks host Susquehanna at 3:30 p.m. on Elmore before a Sunday clash with Eastern Connecticut State in a game played at Oneonta State at 2:30 p.m.
