The Hawks would trail by three points, 28-25, after the opening two quarters of play. A 10-3 run to start the third quarter, with Johnson netting five straight points, put 'Wick in front 35-31. The Soaring Eagles would score the next five points to gain the upper hand, 36-35, but a Caitlin Corbett (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) layup with 4:35 left in the third would put the Hawks ahead for good.

Hartwick (4-12, 3-4 E8) would score 10 straight points in a run that handed it a 45-36 advantage. The Hawks took a 48-41 lead into the final quarter. Elmira cut its deficit to six points three times in the fourth quarter, but an 8-2 'Wick spurt in a two-minute span late in the period would make it a 62-50 contest and put the game away.

The Hawks would shoot 40% from the field while limiting the Soaring Eagles to 34% shooting. Hartwick dominated the boards, 48-36. The Hawks' rebounding total included 13 on the offensive glass which they turned into 16 second-chance points.
