Six Reach Double Figures as Women’s Basketball Team Earns 69-57 Win at Stevens

HOBOKEN, NJ – Hartwick used a balanced attack to topple host Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday at Canavan Arena by a final score of 69-57. Hartwick is now 5-12 overall and 4-4 in the Empire 8. The Ducks fall to 8-11 and 5-5.

After falling behind 8-2, an 11-2 run capped by a Victoria Sacramone (Bayside, NY/St. Mary's) three-pointer with 3:31 left in the first quarter would put the Hawks in front for good. The 'Wick lead grew to nine at the end of the quarter and it swelled to 13 early in the second. The Ducks narrowed the gap to three, 33-30, at halftime.

The Hawks maintained a tight lead in the third quarter, taking a 50-47 advantage into the final quarter. Hartwick out-scored Stevens 8-2 over the first six minutes of the fourth for a 58-51 edge. Five points would be as close as the Ducks would get the rest of the game as the Hawks made 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
