Recap: Senior
Maria Stalder (New Woodstock, NY/Cazenovia) scored three goals on Tuesday and the Hartwick Hawks defeated host Oswego State 4-2 in non-conference field hockey action. The Hawks would have a sizeable advantage in shots, 20-4, but they fell behind after 11:21 as Emily Conklin scored on a rebound for the Lakers. The lead was brief as Stalder answered to tie the game just 4:55 later. It stayed 1-1 for nearly 18 minutes until
Perry Willett's (Huntington, VT/Mount Mansfield Union) shot found the net for her team-best ninth tally of the season. Just 24 seconds later, Stalder's second goal gave the Hawks an insurance goal 1:25 from the halftime horn and 'Wick led 3-1. Fourteen and a half minutes into the second half, Stalder completed her hat-trick with her eighth goal of the campaign.
Rebecca Peakes (West Chester, PA/Unionville) dished out the assist on the play. The Lakers made it a 4-2 game with 9:36 left in the contest on a goal from Abby Tento. It would, however, mark the final opportunity for Oswego, as the Hawks closed out the victory. Stalder would lead Hartwick with six shots.
Allyson Quirk (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) had five shots and Willett and
Brooke Singer (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell) each recorded three. 'Wick goalie
Allyson Osborne (Nottingham, PA/Solanco) stopped two shots in the game. Oswego's Lauren Catalano registered seven.
