Hawks Power Past Alfred, 24-1

ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick rolled to a 24-1 victory in an Empire 8 contest against visiting Alfred University on Friday at Wright Stadium. Twelve different Hawks registered at least a goal in the game.
           
Hartwick is now 5-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Saxons fall to 0-6 and 0-2.
           
Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) recorded a team-best five goals to bring her season total to 37. Her total leads the Empire 8 Conference this season. Emma Knapp (Canandaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman) added four goals and two assists. She also led all players with six draw controls. Hailey Pooler (Adams Center, NY/South Jefferson) added a goal and a game- and career-high six assists.
           
GinaMarie Wilson (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) contributed three goals and one helper for the Hawks. Cassie Durkin (Fayetteville, NY/Jamesville Dewitt) scored three goals and she tied teammate Mattie Coffey (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) with a game-high six ground balls. Coffey also scored one goal.
           
Hanna Layton (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) and Ashley Jablonowski (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) each scored twice with an assist. Minnie Schupp (Menands, NY/Shaker) scored twice, Jennifer Darasz (Gorham, ME/Gorham) added a goal and an assist, and Ashley Egerter (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) and Emma Kaplan (Danbury, CT/Danbury) each registered a goal.
           
Pooler and Kaplan also grabbed four ground balls each. Durkin caused a game-high four turnovers.
           
Goalkeepers Carleigh Tarala (Tully, NY/Tully) and Jennifer Paszko (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) split time in goal. Tarala made two saves in the first half. Paszko stopped two shots in the second half.
           
Miranda Gilbert had the lone Alfred tally in the first half. She also had a team-high five draws. Emily MacWilliams grabbed a team-high four ground balls. Paige Rowlee made seven saves in cage.
           
Hartwick is off for the next eight days until it travels to Houghton on Saturday, April 7 for another Empire 8 contest.
