ELMIRA, NY – Hartwick men's tennis lost for the first time this season, snapping a three-game winning streak, with a 9-0 loss to St. John Fisher in a match played in Elmira, NY. The Hawks slip to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8. The Cardinals improve to 2-8 and 2-1.
Nick Adamou (New Milford, CT/New Milford) and
Jack Steinman (North Haven, CT/North Haven) came the closest to victory in doubles play with an 8-5 loss in the second flight.
John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) and
Nikola Nedeljkovic (Portland, OR/Sunset) were defeated in the first flight, 8-4.
In singles, Nedeljkovic took the first set of his second singles match to a tie-break, but fell 7-6 (8-6), 6-1. Steinman dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision in fourth singles. Adamou fell 6-4, 6-3 in third singles.
The Hawks next play on Thursday against Oswego on home court beginning at 4 p.m.
