BRIDGEPORT, PA – The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) recently announced its All-Academic honors for the 2017-18 season. Seventeen Hawks were honored this season.

Varsity student-athletes who have achieved grade-point averages of 3.2 or higher and competed during the 2018 women's season are recognized on the ACWPC All-Academic Teams. Athletes are acknowledged on three levels: 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding), 3.41 to 3.7 (Superior), and 3.2 to 3.4 (Excellent).

The 17 Hawks earning distinction from the ACWPC is the largest total in program history, topping last year's mark of 12. It was also the most athletes recognized by a program in the CWPA, five more than Harvard, Princeton, and St. Francis, which had 12 honorees apiece.

Hartwick earned a final team grade-point average of 3.34 this season. The Hawks ranked third among CWPA Division I programs and tied for fourteenth in the AWPCA in team GPA.

Sophomores Lena Kotanchyan (Moscow, Russia/Elk Island School #368), Emma Aleksandrovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Medicine School Zvezdara), Gina Grauer (West Lawn, PA/Wilson HS), and Tori Wilson (Kitchener, ONT/Grand River Collegiate Institute) each earned the distinction of "Outstanding" for the second consecutive year.

Senior Katie McKenty (Auckland, New Zealand/Takapuna Grammar School) and junior Sarah Lewis (La Jolla, CA/Cathedral Catholic) led six Hawks in the "Superior" classification. They both earn the honor for the third straight year. Junior Sabrina Hartwell (Ann Arbor, MI/Skyline HS) and sophomores Becca Lelles (Boulder City, NV/Boulder City HS) and Madison Germuska (Encinitas, CA/La Costa Canyon HS) earn a spot in the "Superior" class for the second time in their careers. Freshman Lissa Westerman (Newport Beach, NY/Newport Harbor HS) also was honored.

Seven different Hawks, led by senior Natalie May (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison), secured a space in the "Excellent" classification. May has now been selected in all four of her seasons at Hartwick. Senior Josette Santos (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison HS) has now garnered accolades three times with classmate Lauren Brennan (Canberra, Australia/St. Clares College) and junior L.J. Edwards (Encinitas, CA/Cathedral Catholic HS) each earning selection twice. Senior Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary/Rudas HS), junior Maria Moya (Madrid, Spain/Ortega Y Gasset), and freshman Hannah Edwards (Encinitas, CA/Cathedral Catholic HS) were selected for the first time.
