Recap: Nationally fifteenth ranked Vassar grabbed a 2-0 lead with less than eight minutes elapsed and the Brewers never looked back in an 8-1 defeat of Hartwick's field hockey team Wednesday. The Brewers would add two more goals for a 4-0 edge at the 16:05 mark.
Brooke Singer (Johnson City, NY/Maine Endwell) got one back for the Hawks as she scored her first goal of the season at 17:32. Singer received a pass on a penalty corner from
Rebecca Peakes (West Chester, PA/Unionville) and fired past Vassar goalie Liz Rotolo. Vassar would add a fifth before halftime and scored two more 2:13 apart in the second half. The Brewers closed out the scoring with less than six minutes remaining.
Allyson Osborne (Nottingham, PA/Solanco) finished with nine saves for the Hawks in goal.
Notes: Today's result moves the all-time series to an 8-8-1 deadlock in 17 meetings. The Vassar win avenged last season's 3-2 shootout victory for the Hawks which snapped a five-game win streak against 'Wick.
