Recap: Hartwick held a decisive 14-2 advantage in shots over the final 65 minutes of action on Saturday but the Hawks were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with visiting Mount Saint Mary in the Mayor's Cup on Elmore Field.
Tanner Reed (Unadilla, NY/Unatego Central) converted a penalty kick in the 19
th minute to give the Hawks the advantage. But Mount came right back 3:10 later to tie the game on a goal from Chrissy Canella. 'Wick dominated the proceedings in the second half, out-shooting the Knights by a 10-1 margin but it couldn't put the ball past Mount keeper Liz Ellsworth, who finished the day with 16 saves. In overtime, the Hawks had four shots to the Knights one but Ellsworth stopped another two shots to preserve the deadlock. Reed and
Rachel Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) each had four shots for the Hawks.
Gabrielle Kreppein (Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) recorded three shots.
Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) made four saves in the Hartwick goal.
Game Notes: Hartwick's shutout streak ended at just over 628 minutes, spanning over six games. Today was just the second meeting between the two teams. The Knights won the other one in a 2-0 decision in the 2013 ECAC Upstate Tournament. 'Wick can capture its second Mayor's Cup title in four years tomorrow with a win and some help from the Red Dragons in the first match. Smith defeated SUNY Oneonta 1-0 in the day's first game.
