ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's swimming and diving team dropped both ends of their tri-meet at Moyer Pool against Springfield College and Union College on Saturday, losing to the Pride, 153-141, and to the Dutchwomen, 148-146. The Hawks won seven of the 14 swimming events on the day, but fall to 9-3 for the season.
Olivia Bart (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) and Channing Lewis (Canton, OH/Canton McKinley) each had two individual wins, with Lewis also picking up a second-place finish as well. Bart won back-to-back races, taking the 50 free in 24.87 seconds (with a margin of victory of 1.35 second) and the 100 free in 54.96 seconds. Lewis won the 1000 free by over six seconds, touching up in 11:04.11, as well as later taking first in the 500 free with a time of 5:25.86 and a greater-than-six-second margin of victory. She won the silver in the 200 back, finishing in 2:16.81.
Gina Grauer (West Lawn, PA/Wilson) was the only other individual winner on the day for the Hawks, winning the 100 breast in 1:10.04. She also placed second in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:33.08.
Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) and Emma Reining (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) each had a second and third place finish. Argentieri was second in the 200 fly (2:16.06) and third in the 200 IM (2:18.63), while Reining was just .09 seconds behind the winner in the 100 fly at 1:01.51 and in third in the 100 free (58.30).
'Wick won both of the day's relays. They started off the meet with a victory in the 200 medley, as a team of Allie Borowiak (Buffalo, NY/Nardin Academy), Grauer, Reining, and Bart touched up in 1:54.87 for a narrow five-tenths-of-a-second margin of victory. To close out the meet, Grauer, Abby Schwartz (Olean, NY/Olean), Lewis, and Bart won the 400 free in 3:46.34.
The Hawks continue their season in one week on Saturday, January 19, when they travel to Alfred University for a 1 p.m. meet.
