ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick women's tennis was beaten 9-0 on Saturday at Wilber Park Courts by visiting Marywood University. The Hawks fall to 1-9 on the season with the result. The Pacers improve to 2-0.
In doubles play,
McKenzie Rider (Salamanca, NY/Salamanca) and
Alyssa Wadsworth (Ilion, NY/Central Valley Academy) lost a tight match in the third flight, losing to Brooke Panek and Lyndsey Medric by a final score of 8-6.
Victoria Wilson (Trenton, NY/Trenton Catholic) and
Skylar Watts (Rome, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) lost 8-4 at first doubles.
In singles action, Rider was the lone Hawk to take her match to a third set. She won the first set against Karah Laboranti, 6-4, but dropped the second set 6-0 to set the stage for a super tie-breaker. Laboranti would prevail, outlasting Rider, 10-8.
Watts won seven games in her match at second singles.
Jessica Best (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie) took five games at fourth singles and Wilson took four in the top flight.
Hartwick gets right back at it tomorrow with an Empire 8 match at Utica beginning at 1 p.m.
