CORTLAND, NY – Hartwick women's tennis fell in its 2019 season opener on Friday afternoon to SUNY Cortland by a final count of 9-0 in a match played at Varsity Tennis Courts in Cortland.
The Red Dragons grabbed all three doubles matches while dropping just three games to take a 3-0 advantage. They would clinch the team victory with a win in fourth singles.
Sophomore
Skylar Watts (Rome, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) battled in second singles against Isabella Arrigo. She won eight games in the match but fell short 6-4, 6-4. Classmate
Taylor D'Andrea (Ballston Spa, NY/Saratoga Springs) took four games in her fifth singles match with Isabella Bonapace. In a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
Hartwick hosts its home opener tomorrow against Oswego at Wilber Park Courts. The Hawks and Lakers begin play at 3 p.m.
