ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – Host Bard College scored twice in the opening 15 minutes to take control early in a 3-0 defeat of Hartwick's men's soccer team on Saturday in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. The Hawks, who slip to 1-3 on the season, finished the match out-shooting the Raptors by a 15-14 margin, but couldn't break through. The hosts get their first win improving to 1-4 on the campaign.
The Raptors jumped in front 9:46 into the contest as Dylan Jung tallied off an assist from Pat Devine. They added to their total just 4:28 later as Joey Carbone scored the first of his two goals on the day. Denton Lane was credited with the assist on the tally.
The Hawks were out-shot by a slim 8-6 margin in the half, but the Raptors took the two-goal lead into halftime.
It took just over 15 minutes for Bard to get its third goal. Carbone put the ball away with Jung earning the assist.
Troy Amegashie (Accra, Ghana/Tema International School) was credited with five of the Hawks' shots in the match, with three making their way on goal.
Eddie Carpio (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) registered four shots and three on target.
Jake Zona (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) contributed three shots for 'Wick.
Jimmy Noel (Cap Haitian, Haiti/Baldwin),
Tyler Muir (Poughquag, NY/Arlington), and
Joey Bertone (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) each chipped in with one shot apiece.
Aidan Wholihan (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's Annapolis) made the start in goal for the Hawks. He made three saves in the opening 45 minutes.
Britt Reisman (Vero Beach, FL/Saint Edward's School) played the final 45 minutes and made one save. Logan Leppo made eight stops for the Raptors, including a pair in the final three minutes to rob both
Hector Ferreira (East Williston, NY/The Wheatley School) and Carpio.
Hartwick returns to action on Wednesday, September 18 in Scranton, PA as the Hawks play Marywood University at 6 p.m.
