SCRANTON, PA – Hartwick rallied to tie the game in the 89
th minute but surrendered the winner to Marywood in the 109
th in a 2-1 loss on Wednesday night in Scranton, PA. The Hawks were just 1:18 from earning a hard-fought draw with the Pacers. Jon Dinnell's free kick, however, would hand the hosts the victory.
The Hawks were out-shot 13-4 in the first half of play but the defense would keep the Pacers out as the game was 0-0 at the break.
Marywood broke the tie at the 63:05 mark of the game after the Hawks were whistled for a foul in their own box. Zac Lloyd converted the resulting penalty kick low to keeper
Britt Reisman's (Vero Beach, FL/Saint Edward's School) right for the 1-0 lead.
It looked like time would run out on the Hawks in regulation, but they were rewarded with a penalty after a 'Wick player was fouled on an aerial ball played into the box.
Troy Amegashie (Accra, Ghana/Tema International School) stepped up and buried the ball into the net to Pacer keeper Mike Gallagher's left and the game was deadlocked at one with 71 seconds left in the second half.
In overtime, the Pacers put the pressure on, out-shooting the Hawks 6-0 through the first 18 minutes. Marywood then earned a free kick just 19 yards from Hartwick's goal at the top of the box. Dinnell drove his shot through the wall and the ball went just underneath a diving Reisman and into the far corner for the Pacer victory.
The hosts would hold a 26-9 edge in the match. They had six corners with the Hawks earning four.

Jake Zona (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) each had two shots for Hartwick.

Aidan Wholihan (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's Annapolis) started in goal for the Hawks. He made seven saves in the first 45 minutes. Reisman made two the rest of the way.
Hartwick next plays on Saturday at St. John Fisher as the Hawks play the first Empire 8 team on their schedule. Kickoff is 4:30 p.m. from Growney Stadium.
