The lead lasted for less than six minutes as Clarks Summit earned a free kick 25 yards from the Hawks' goal. Jan Rodriguez fired a shot in on target that 'Wick keeper Aidan Wholihan (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's Annapolis) couldn't keep out and the game was knotted at one. The half ended 1-1 with the Defenders holding an 8-5 advantage in shots.

The Hawks took the lead for good in the 60th minute. Following a service from the left side of the Defenders' goal. Eddie Carpio (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) pounced on the loose ball and sent a shot in towards goal but it was handled near the goal line giving the Hawks a penalty kick. Amegashie did the honors, slamming the ball in past Liam Hungate for the 2-1 lead.

The Hawks would keep the Defenders out over the final 30 minutes to claim the victory. They finished with a 9-6 edge in shots in the second half. Both teams ended the match with 14 shots.

Amegashie had four of the Hawks' shots. Joey Bertone (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) and Zach Craft (Unadilla, NY/Unatego Central) were credited with two apiece.

Wholihan made five saves in the opening half. Britt Reisman (Vero Beach, FL/Saint Edward's School) played in net for the second half and he made two stops. Hungate made four saves for Clarks Summit.
