SPRINGFIELD, MA – Olivia Bart (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) led the way with two wins for the Hartwick women's swimming and diving team on Saturday afternoon, but it was not quite enough, as the Hawks lost to host Springfield, 191-97, and Union, 146-138. 'Wick is now 6-5 on the season.
As she frequently does, Bart earned wins in the 50 free, with a time of 24.70 seconds, and 100 free, touching up in 54.74 seconds. Teammate Abby Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) also had a good showing in the 100 free, claiming third by clocking in at 57.82 seconds. Miller had a pair of second-place finishes on the day as well, in the 200 free (2:01.90) and 500 free (5:29.92).
Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) had the only other Hartwick win on the day, swiping gold in the 100 fly in 1:02.82. She would finish second in the 200 fly, in 2:16.62, and third in the 200 IM, in 2:20.63.
The only other individual top-two finishes for 'Wick came from Channing Lewis (Canton, OH/Canton McKinley), who was second in the 200 back (2:18.28) and Abby Schwartz (Olean, NY/Olean), who ended up in second in the 1000 free (11:11.08).
The Hawks were second in both of the day's relays. A team of Lewis, Cecelia Mowrey (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown), Argentieri, and Bart finished the 200 medley relay in 1:57.63. In the meet's final event, Bart, Lewis, Schwartz, and Miller had a time of 3:49.00 in the 400 free relay, just .73 seconds behind first-place Springfield.
The Hawks return home next week, when they take on Empire 8 foe Alfred on Saturday, January 18 at 1 p.m. in Moyer Pool.
