ONEONTA, NY – Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) led the Hartwick women's swimming and diving team with three individual wins on the day as the Hawks won 12 of 14 swimming events en route to a 164-104 win over Empire 8 foe Alfred in Moyer Pool on Saturday. The Hawks are now 7-5 on the year.
'Wick won both of the day's relays. In the opening 200 medley relay, Channing Lewis (Canton, OH/Canton McKinley), Cecelia Mowrey (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown), Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence), and Olivia Bart (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) clocked in first with a time of 1:56.02. In the final event of the day, the 200 free relay, Bart, Abby Schwartz (Olean, NY/Olean), Lewis, and Abby Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), grabbed gold by touching up in 1:45.55.
Argentieri's three wins came in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM. She won the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.09 and the 200 fly in 2:16.13, and was followed in the latter by teammates Starr Harford (Waverly, NY/Waverly) in second with a time of 2:28.13 and Gabrielle Grimley (Leominster, MA/Leominster) at 2:28.99. In the 200 IM, Argentieri's 2:20.44 beat out Mowrey in second at 2:21.74 and Emma Reilly (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) in third at 2:29.84.
Three more Hawks had two wins on the day: Bart, Mowrey, and Schwartz. Bart won the 50 free (24.35 seconds) and 100 free (55.00 seconds) as per usual, beating out Miller in the 100 free (57.73 seconds). Mowrey took the breaststroke events, swiping the 100 in 1:13.82 and 200 in 2:41.08. Schwartz was first in the 1650 free at 18:54.80 (Grimley was second with a time of 19:41.86) as well as in the 500 free, in 5:30.81. Miller took second in the latter, touching up in 5:33.45, and was followed in third by Grimley at 5:44.77.
The only other 'Wick win on the day came from Miller, who won the 200 free in 2:02.10 and was followed by Schwartz in second at 2:07.07. Lewis had a couple second-place finishes, in the 100 back (1:05.51) and 200 back (2:17.67).
The Hawks have their final home meet of the season next Saturday, January 25 at 12 p.m. against Worcester Polytechnic Institute. They will honor the team's seniors and their parents before the start of the meet.
