ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick field hockey team has scheduled a spring prospect identification clinic to be held on Sunday, April 26 in Wright Stadium. Current high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors are eligible to sign up, and there is a cap of 40 field players and 10 goalies.
The cost is $40 per person (payable by cash or check on the date of the clinic), which includes a training session and a student-athlete/coaching staff question and answer session. The clinic will run from 2-5 p.m., with check-in starting at 1:30 p.m.
After winning at least 11 games each season from 2016-18 and making the Empire 8 Tournament twice in that span, the Hawks finally broke through in 2019 with their first conference championship since 2005. Head Coach Erin Autera's squad ended a tightly contested regular season as the #3 seed in the Empire 8 Tournament, and then secured one-goal wins in the Semifinals and Final to notch the program's first ever Empire 8 Tournament win and first NCAA Tournament berth since 2004. 'Wick ended their season with 13 wins, tying the 2009 and 2016 teams for the most victories in a season since that 2004 team.
As a result of their historic year, the Hawks cleaned up during awards season at the conference, regional, and national level. Sydney Gagnon (Chestertown, NY/North Warren Central) was named the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year as well as to the First Team, and was joined on the First Team by teammates Brooke Singer (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell), Rebecca Bonini (Avon, CT/Avon), and Allyson Osborne (Nottingham, PA/Solanco). Katie Meuse (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention as well.
A couple weeks later, Gagnon and Singer earned spots on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-North Atlantic Region First Team, while Osborne claimed a spot on the Second Team. It marked the first time since 2004 that multiple Hawks were named to the NFHCA's All-Region First Team. Gagnon rounded out the program's whirlwind of accolades soon after, as she was named to Synapse Sports' All-Rookie Team.
Players interested in attending the clinic can register here. Please be sure to have a parent/guardian fill out the Parental Consent Form and bring it on the day of the clinic.
