ROCHESTER, NY – Hartwick's women's tennis team dropped a pair of Empire 8 matches on Saturday, 9-0 to Nazareth, and 7-2 to Russell Sage. The Hawks slip to 0-3 on the season.
Against the Golden Flyers (3-0), junior
Victoria Wilson (Trenton, NY/Trenton Catholic) nearly came away with a victory at second singles. She fell to Brooke Murphy by a count of 8-6.
Wilson was victorious in both of her matches against the Gators (2-0) in the Hawks' second match. She combined with freshman
Jade Killikelly (Jamaica, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) in first doubles, topping the duo of Kaitlyn Banks and Taylor Gillespie convincingly, 8-1. She took down Gillespie in the second singles flight for her first victory of the season, 8-4.
Killikelly took five games in first singles against Banks, 8-5. Sophomore
Cierra Barkley (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) took three games in third singles against Claire Connolly, 8-3.
The Hawks are off until next Saturday when they travel to Utica College for a 12 p.m. match.
