Women’s Tennis Moves to 3-1 With Sweep of Oswego

OSWEGO, NY – The Hartwick women's tennis team cruised by Oswego on the road Friday afternoon, sweeping through the Lakers by a 9-0 scoreline. The Hawks are now 3-1 on the year, their best start since 2017, while Oswego falls to 1-5.

In doubles play, top pairing Victoria Wilson (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Catholic Academy) and Jade Killikelly (Jamaica, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) got by their opponents by a close 8-7 (3) score. Ryann Ashby (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) and Val Kohberger (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) beat Jenna Wilson and Deb Win 8-6 at second doubles, and Jess Sexton (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) and Colleen Marsh (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) won at third pairing, 8-2.

Killikelly was leading the first set in her top singles matchup over Miryam Makutonin 4-1 before the latter had to retire for the Hawks' fourth point of the day. Ashby (6-0, 6-1), Wilson (6-0, 6-0), and Kohberger (6-2, 6-0) all had easy wins at second, third, and fourth doubles, respectively. Sexton grabbed a 7-5, 5-3 victory in fifth singles, and Marsh was victorious at sixth singles by a 6-2, 6-2 score.

The Hawks are back to it tomorrow, hosting defending Empire 8 Champion Nazareth for a 4 p.m. match.
