Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Drops Game at Houghton

Houghton, NY – The Men's Basketball team was unable to notch their first win on the road at Houghton, falling to the hosts 54-68.  Hartwick (0-12, 0-4) will look to regroup before tomorrow's conference matchup at Alfred which is set to tip at 4:00pm.  Houghton grabbed their first win of the season and is now 1-10 (1-1).

Anthony Girard led Wick with 15 points and 10 rebounds, his first double-double of the season.  Nick Eiler also chipped in a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, coincidentally his first of the season as well.   Kevin Felasco rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 of his own.

Despite falling down by 10 points halfway through the first, Hartwick battled and kept the game close.  A 13-0 run at the 10:42 mark gave Hartwick a 3-point edge with under 8 minutes to play, but Houghton didn't stay down for long as the teams traded baskets much of the rest of the half.  Down 3 with 44seconds left, Nick Eiler drove to the hoop and connected on a layup to bring Hartwick within 1 as the team went into the locker room.

The second half was a different story, unfortunately for the Hawks, as the team shot just 20% from the field and 17% from behind the arc.  Houghton's defense forced 7 Hartwick turnovers and were only whistled for 8 fouls, not giving Hartwick a chance to catch up from the charity stripe.  Felasco scored 8 of his 12 points in the half while Girard pulled down 7 of his 10 rebounds in the second.
