Houghton, NY – The Women's Basketball team picked up their 8^th win of the season after defeating Houghton on the road 75-43.  The Hawks are now 8-4 (3-1) while Houghton fell to 7-5 (1-2).
 
A close 3-point game at the half, Hartwick came out of the break on fire, outscoring their opponent 28-8 in the third to really open the game and put it out of reach for the Highlanders.  Defensively, Hartwick held Houghton to just 9 shots in that quarter, allowing just two baskets, while shooting an impressive 50% themselves.  The Hawks connected on 3-5 from long range, a big difference from the 0-10 mark in the first half.
 
Hartwick finished the 4^th quarter with a 16-7 edge on the scoreboard, once again holding their opponent to just 2 field goals (2-17) from the field.  The defensive efforts of the Hawks led to forcing 20 turnovers that turned into 22 points for Hartwick.
 
Hartwick dominated the game inside, scoring 40 of their 75 points in the paint compared to just 10 points in the paint for the Highlanders.  Wick's 23 offensive rebounds led to 23 second chance points.
 
Hartwick was led by Maggie Kirby who dropped 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.  Giuliana Pritchard added 11 points in just 20 minutes of action.  Bree Fargnoli came off the bench to add 7 points and 8 rebounds for a Hartwick team that had 12 players log 7 or more minutes in the contest.
 
The Hawks will be back in action tomorrow on the road at Alfred with a 2PM tipoff.
