ALFRED, NY – The women's Basketball team defeated Alfred Saturday afternoon by a 70-59 score. The win pushes Hartwick to 9-4 (4-1) while Alfred drops to 6-7 (1-3). The win keeps Hartwick in a 3-way tie for first after the completion of E8 games this weekend.
Wick had one of their better nights shooting, finishing just shy of 46% on 28-61 from the field. Hartwick's
Maggie Kirby and
Giuliana Pritchard led the way with 17 points apiece.
Molly Kirby and
Bree Fargnoli chipped in 11 apiece. Pritchard led the way with 9 rebounds for the Hawks.
A strong second and third quarter made the difference in the game for the Hawks. Down 2 after the first quarter, Hartwick won each of the next two by 5 apiece to take an 8 point lead into the final stanza. Hartwick pushed their lead to 16 with under 3 minutes to play, proving too much for the hosts to overcome. Despite Alfred's 9-4 run to close the game, Hartwick grabbed their 6
th double digit victory on the season.
The Hawks play their next three at home, beginning Friday against Elmira at 5:30PM.
