Women’s Basketball Wins in Dominating Fashion

ONEONTA, NY – The Women's Basketball team got production from every player in tonight's win over the visiting Elmira Soaring Eagles.  The 76-36 victory marked the lowest point total that Hartwick has allowed this season.  The win moves Wick to 10-4 (5-1) while Elmira falls to 6-8 (1-5).

Hartwick was led by Mikyla Mitchell who came off the bench to score a season high 19 points in just 23 minutes of action.  Giuliana Pritchard pushed her double digit scoring streak to 4 consecutive games (and 8 of the last 9) with 13 points in 16 minutes.  Sareena DiCerbo pulled down a team high 9 rebounds in a game where Hartwick's starting five played just 70 minutes and were able to support the rest of the team who scored 44 of Hartwick's 76 points on the evening.   Defensively, the Hawks forced 27 turnovers and shot 39% from the field.

Hartwick scored the game's first 15 points to build the early lead that allowed them to never trail and ultimately control the game from start to finish.  They outscored their opponents 23-7 in the opening stanza and then 20-5 in the second quarter.  Despite losing the 3rd quarter 14-16, Hartwick came right back to dominate the final quarter 19-8.  The visitors were never able to get anything going, as Hartwick jumped in front of 13 passes which resulted in 24 points off turnovers.  Offensively, Hartwick pulled down 20 rebounds and turned them into 16 second chance points.

Elmira's Nevaeh Winston led her team with 10 points on 5-9 shooting.  She was the only Elmira player to score in double figures.

Up next for Hartwick is Keuka College, who comes to Oneonta after dropping their game tonight at Sage College 55-68.  The Wolves come into the contest at 1-12 (0-5) on the season.
