Saxons Come Back on Hawks, Men’s Soccer Draws 2-2

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Hawks scored first, but a late comeback from the Saxons forced both squads to settle for the 2-2 tie on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Hartwick picked up a goal in the early stages of the 9th minute with a tally from Jim Mahony (Bournemouth, England) for his 6th goal of the season.
  • Jake Zona (Liverpool, N.Y.) extended the Hawks' lead just 2:21 into the second half for his 5th goal of the season.
  • Just over 10 minutes later, the Saxons were able to get on the scoreboard to cut the Hartwick lead to just one goal at 2-1.
  • Unfortunately for the Hawks, Alfred was able to find that equalizer in the 81st minute of play to knot the score at 2-2.
  • Neither squad was able to find the game winner as the last nine minutes ticked off the clock and both teams settled for the tie in Empire 8 play.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
 
The Hawks will finish their regular season and Empire 8 slate next weekend on Saturday, October 29 as they head to Elmira College for a 2:30 PM contest.
